Manipulation Increases Antioxidants Level in the Body

Anti-oxidants are naturally occurring chemicals that protect the human body from free radicals inside the body. Dark colored vegetables, fruits & Chaga are excellent sources of anti-oxidants, but the human body also produces anti-oxidants to ward off damage.

In this new clinical study done in Brazil, researchers looked at 23 people who were suffering from low back or neck pain. Each patient received 10 grade V mobilization (high velocity low amplitude manipulation) over a period of five weeks.

Blood samples were taken from the test subjects before and after the study period, and the researchers noted levels of three specific anti-oxidants: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase (GPx).

At the end of the study, there was no difference in antioxidant catalase, but there was a significant increase in both SOD and GPx, indicating that spinal manipulation indeed increases two types of antioxidants within the body.

The original article was published by the Journal of Manipulative & Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) on December 05, 2014:  Peripheral Oxidative Stress Blood Markers in Patients With Chronic Back or Neck Pain Treated With High-Velocity, Low-Amplitude Manipulation

It Was The Night Before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Kirksville
Not a creature was stirring, except old A.T. Still.

His children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of skeletons danced in their heads.

With Mrs. A.T. in her hospital gown, and he in skull cap,
They settled their brains for a long winter's nap

When up from the kitchen there arose such a clatter,
He sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the stairs he flew like a flash,
Tore into the pantry, grabbed the phone in a dash.

"My hubby, Santa, is aching," said his poor distressed spouse.
"How will he visit the children tonight, if his muscles are spasm'd
and he's bent over tight?"

"Just send him over," said Uncle A. T. ,
"And I'll do a treatment with my OMT."

More slowly than snails Santa's coursers they came,
And he moaned and groaned and begged them by name.

"Ow, Dasher! Ow, Dancer! Ow, Rudolph and Vixen!
No, Comet! No, Cupid! No, Donder and Blitzen!

"To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Go slowly, go slowly, go slowly you all!"

So up to the housetop the coursers flew
With a sleigh full of St. Nicholas and his aching bones too.

"Get off of my roof, you aching old coot,
Or you'll have occupational dysfunction to boot."

As Andrew poured for the visitor a glass of Jim Beam,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a scream.

His body was twisted from his head to his foot,
And his bones were all tangled and bruised black as soot.

His old little spine was drawn up like a bow,
And the color of his face was a pale as the snow.

"A bundle of toys, I can't fling on my back.
And I look like a peddler who can't open his sack."

A wink of Still's eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave Santa to know he had nothing to dread.

A.T. spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
With his knee on Kris' spine, he gave Kringle's neck a big jerk.

Then placing a finger on Santa's sore muscle,
It popped, and it snapped, and it cracked, and it bustled.

Santa sprang from the table and started to whistle,
But A.T. insisted he lay on some hay and some thistle.

"Bed rest, bed rest, that's what you need.
I'll deliver the packages with your trusty steeds."
And A.T. heard Santa exclaim, as he left him below,
"Thank you old buzzard, you are a darn good DO."

Practising Manual Osteopathy in the United States

A letter from National University of Medical Sciences DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) student in the United States:

Dr.Nuzum here! Hi fellow Manual Osteopaths. I practice in Idaho here in the USA, under the Tribal Health Department license. This truly is the safest place to be and I can freely practice all of Manual Osteopathy legally in every State in the US with this license. It's worth the time to look at this.

Osteopathy Business Tip # 97

Mutual Fund or Index Fund?

To retire wealthy, I urge my students to save 10% of their annual income into different investment systems. Stocks are the most common investment methods, with managed mutual funds being the most popular way of investing in stocks.

However only 4% of managed mutual funds beat the market, and with an average fee of 3.1% of total investment they are quite costly. Investing in index mutual funds is safer and they outperform 96% of the managed mutual funds in the long term. Also their Management Expense Ratio (MER) & fees are less than 1%.

When an index mutual fund and a managed mutual fund offer the same interest rate, in your life time, investing in index fund would save you over $350,000 because mutual funds charge you 2.1% more on average.

The portion of your investment fund that you allocate to stocks is best to be invested in an index fund within a registered saving plan such as RRSP in Canada, or 401(k) in USA that has MER of less than 1%.

You should max out your allowed investment in a registered retirement plan before investing anything outside the plan.

Osteopathy/MBA Dual Degree for Physiotherapists

Doctor of Osteopathy/Master of Business Management in Health Care (DO/MBA) is our most popular dual degree program and physiotherapists can complete both degrees at the same time in 1 year at total tuition of 3712 EURO.

The program is 100% online available worldwide. However those who wish to take practical in-campus classes can do so in Toronto (Canada), Madrid (Spain) and many other cities.

Osteopathy offers the most effective treatment of chronic pain. Osteopaths typically have waiting lists ranging from weeks to months because of their effectiveness in helping patients. In London, Ontario there is a waiting list of one year to see an osteopath. In Halifax it is 6 months. In Vietnam it is 2 months.

Canadian patients in 2012 have chosen manual osteopathy as their #1 treatment of choice for low back pain as compared to chiropractic, acupuncture, physiotherapy, massage therapy & pain medications.

Osteopathy and physiotherapy complement each other well. We have many physiotherapists across the globe who studied osteopathy with us. By adding osteopathy to your treatment you set yourself apart from your competitors.

A recent research proved that business owners who learned marketing and business management skills on average made 10 times (1000%) more income than those who started the same type of business without having any business management skills.

The road to success is easy. To become successful you must become a master of your clinic. Obtaining an MBA improves your chance of becoming wealthy and successful in your health practice.

The MBA program of National University of Medical Sciences is geared for physiotherapists. It teaches you everything you need to know about marketing, advertising, public relations, financial management, accounting, wealth creation and investing, tax planning, estate planning & asset protection.

Everything we teach is practical and can be implemented in your practice right away.
