Canadian Government Recognizes Manual Osteopathy

Great news MANUAL OSTEOPATHS! 

We are glad to announce that the title "Osteopathic Manual Practitioner" has now been officially entered into the National Occupational Classification of Canada; under the NOC Code # 3232 (Practitioners of Natural Healing). 

This is great news for the profession of manual osteopathy as it gives a unique identity to the job title of our graduates, and it is a great step towards regulating the profession of manual osteopathy in Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. 

Previously only the titles “osteopath or Doctor of Osteopathy” were classified in Canada to represent anyone who practices any forms of osteopathy.

Now there are officially two distinct forms of osteopathy in Canada, one the osteopathic medicine, which its practitioners call themselves osteopaths in Canada and the other European style manual osteopathy which its practitioners are called manual osteopaths or osteopathic manual practitioners. 

On another note; Canada Post on Nov 11, 2014 published the World Osteopathy Day logo designed by Dr Shahin Pourgol, president of National University of Medical Sciences & the National Academy of Osteopathy. 

Lastly, we want to inform all manual osteopaths that the the 100% online MBA in Health Care program of National University of Medical Sciences that is very popular with manual osteopaths and osteopaths, can be taken as a dual degree program with our master of science in athletic therapy or a number of our other programs. Tuition is 3,300 EURO for the full 1 year MBA program. Classes are in English.

Canada Post Publishes Stamp Designed by Dr Pourgol

The Canada Post on November 11, 2014 published mailing stamps that have the World Osteopathy Day logo designed by Dr Shahin Pourgol, president of National University of Medical Sciences.

World Osteopathy Day was founded by Dr Pourgol in 2012. It was the first day in 137 years that the profession of osteopathy had a day of its own.

If you work with athletes, a degree in Athletic Therapy sets you apart from your competitors.

Athletic therapy is quite similar to physiotherapy in scope of practice with more focus on sports medicine. Athletic therapists use physiotherapy modalities, kinesio taping, braces & orthopedic supports, manual therapy, nutrition and therapeutic exercise to help athletes recover from injuries or to prevent injuries.

Athletic therapists are able to open their own private clinics or work for other clinics, rehab centers, gyms, and sports teams.

NUMSS graduates are able to work in all countries as athletic therapists, including Canada (all provinces), USA (all states), Europe, Asia & Africa.

In certain countries such as Canada, a number of private insurers cover athletic therapy.

NUMSS offers a one year 100% online Master of Science in Athletic Therapy open to all health professionals and those without a prior health education. Tuition is 3,300 EURO.

NUMSS AT is accredited by International Board of Certified Athletic Therapists. NUMSS graduates are eligible to join IBCAT upon graduation. However membership in IBCAT or any other athletic therapy association is optional and it is not a requirement to practice.

Many athletic therapists in Canada, USA, Europe and Asia practice without being a member of any association as athletic therapy is not a regulated health profession in any country.

By becoming an athletic therapist, you improve your services to your current patients if you are a health professional. If you are not a health professional, by becoming an athletic therapist, you enter an exciting health profession.

Hello Dr. Pourgol, thank you that you teaching the lumbar Lateral Recumbent, pull and push on the spinous process techniques. I saved a lot people from pain with this technique. 

Recently there was a case of woman who suffers with severe pain from lower back blockage which doctors found on the x-ray. but gave her just injection which had no effect on her. 

Her family called me that she is crying from pain at home&  If I could help. With these techniques I did one time on both sides of the lumbar spine & it has adjusted very softly and now she can move freely. 

I saved also 86 years old lady from pain. Whole family thanked me to save her mother and grandmother. 

What a great feeling!
