Today; June 22nd is the official World Osteopathy Day since it was established 3 years ago. This is the day Osteopathy was founded in 1874 by Dr Andrew Taylor Still.
Canadian manual osteopath, Dr Shawn Pourgol, MBA, DC, DO, PhD president of
the National University of Medical
Sciences (Spain) has founded this day in 2012 as a way to increase public awareness of
manual osteopathy. Prior to 2012 osteopathy did not have a day of its own.
In 2013 the Canada Post, as per our request published a
mailing stamp with the World Osteopathy Day logo.
To celebrate this date in 2015 we have offered over one
million Euros in free seminars to 5000 health professionals worldwide.
Manual osteopathy does wonders for chronic musculoskeletal
pain and is the number one choice of Canadians for chronic low back pain
treatment. And the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has chosen manual
osteopathy as one of the top 25 occupations in demand in Canada. In some
Canadian cities there is a waiting list of up to a year to see a manual
osteopath.
To make manual osteopathy available to people worldwide we
teach it in 45 countries. Our mission is to make manual osteopathy available to
everyone in all countries.
We wish you all a Happy World Osteopathy Day!
