Postgraduate Program for ATHLETIC TRAINERS

Would you like to improve athletic performance? Would you like to learn a new way to assess the body? Would you like to treat sports injuries more effectively?

Manual osteopathy is very effective in treating sports injuries and some of its techniques are used to improve athletic performance.

Many of our alumni are athletic trainers who by studying manual osteopathy open up new employment opportunities for themselves as having dual degrees give them a competitive advantage. A dual degree also results in having a higher annual income. Alumni who add manual osteopathic care to their practices increase their annual income by $28,000.

National University of Medical Sciences (USA) offers an online Bachelor of Science degree program in osteopathic manual practice – BSc (OMP) that athletic trainers can complete in 6 months (1 semester) at reduced tuition ($3875). We also offer a PhD program in Osteopathic Clinical Sciences for athletic trainers.

You will learn techniques such as cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, osteoarticular, muscle energy, high velocity low amplitude, balanced ligamentous tension, positional facilitated release, strain/counterstrain, Still’s, manual mechanotherapy, lymphatic drainage, oscillatory, thermogenic, and soft tissue therapy which you can incorporate into your treatments in all US states.

Our alumni in the States cannot call themselves osteopaths as the term is reserved for osteopathic physicians in US. We teach hands-on European style osteopathy, no surgery, no medications. This degree does not make you an osteopathic physician. You can legally however use the title of osteopathic manual practitioner if you wish.

Upon graduation you may be eligible to join our Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics (https://www.facebook.com/osteopathypainclinics). With over 166 clinics across the world OCPCC is the largest privately owned chronic pain clinic in the world. All osteopathic manual practitioners working in these clinics are our alumni and many of them are physical therapists who have studied manual osteopathy with us.

We are accredited by the Council on Manual Osteopathy Education of the International Osteopathic Association.

Our classes start twice per year in February and September. Our lectures are online on-demand and in video formats with available course notes when applicable. Your tuition covers all costs (including a hard drive with all the lecture videos) and you have access to one week of free in-class practical technique class.

To request our information package please send us an email to admissions@numss.us. You can also visit our website for more information at www.numss.us.

We do hope you study manual osteopathy with us. It is a great profession and does wonders in helping athletes.

Thank you for reading this post.

Here is a post by our student, athletic trainer, Marylene Audet on why she chose to study osteopathy:

The rich set of manual techniques available to the manual osteopath allows a more exhaustive evaluation of the clients to maintain a delicate balance between all the functions of the body and the person as a whole.

What really attracted me to this profession is the gentle, respectful, thoughtful healing touch, one that is rationally exercised to achieve better mind-body movement.

From the fast pace of an AT life, osteopathy is an invitation to reconnect with Nature, appreciate the gift that was given to me: a passion to aid my clients reach, a balanced life and well-being.
