Manual osteopaths who wish to offer physiotherapy modalities such as
ultrasound, laser, TENS, IFC, EMS, thermotherapy, cryotherapy, traction,
& iontophoresis to patients are permitted to do in Canada once they
take the appropriate courses.
The DO (doctor of osteopathy)
program of National University of Medical Sciences (Spain) and the PhD
program in osteopathic clinical sciences of the National University of
Medical Sciences (USA) both offer
physiotherapy modalities courses which enable manual osteopaths to offer
physiotherapy modalities to patients.
Please note that while you are permitted to perform physiotherapy
modalities after taking the appropriate courses, you CANNOT call
yourself a physiotherapist and you CANNOT call what you do
physiotherapy.
