NUMSS is Set to Join the Osteopathy Outreach Clinic in Cuba
National University of Medical Sciences (NUMSS) received approved to
participate in the osteopathy outreach program of Havana, Cuba, that was
established in 2012 by the National Academy of Osteopathy.
Two NUMSS graduates of the DO program and 2 graduates of the BSc
(osteopathy) are permitted to provide a month long free osteopathic
treatments to Cubans in a polyclinic setting. This introduces the Cuban
population to osteopathy while also providing an excellent training to
new graduates.
Cuba has cultivated a large and resourceful
network of health practitioners, which is made possible thanks to the
well-designed academic practices and the constant commitment of its top
six medical universities to the improvement of healthcare professionals.
The healthcare system in Cuba is made up of 60 different specialties.
Fifty one of these specialities are medical (including physiotherapy
& natural medicine), with five dental, three nursing and one for
psychology. There are no private healthcare facilities in Cuba and all
healthcare professionals are employees of the government.
National University of Medical Sciences (founded in 2012) is affiliated with the Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics of Canada that operates 378 locations in 34 countries as well as the Pourgol Osteopathy Chronic Pain Hospital. We are accredited by the European Agency for Higher Education & Accreditation and in the USA by the International Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Our degrees are approved in the US by California University Foreign Credential Evaluation.
