SEMINAR: Diagnosis & Osteopathic Treatment of Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD)

Seminar Presenter: manual osteopath; Dr. Shahin Pourgol, president and a professor of NUMSS

Time: 2 hours (10AM to noon). Includes lectures & practical demonstration of manual osteopathic techniques and tests

Fee: 50 EURO (or $75 Canadian). A receipt is issued for you to use as a business expenses for tax deduction purposes.

CEU: This seminar is eligible to be used for two hours of continuing education unit (CEU)

Eligibility: open to all health professionals.

Course Aim: Up to 75% of the population have leg length discrepancy including 2/3 of patients with low back pain. Leg length discrepancy will be discussed in detail with focus on diagnosis and osteopathic treatment. Attendees learn how to diagnose LLD and how to differentiate between structural and functional causes of LLD. Tests to detect and measure LLD will be shown. Additionally specific manual osteopathic techniques are demonstrated that can help patients with LLD.

Course Outcome: Upon completion of the seminar; attendees will be able to diagnose Leg Length Differences and to treat it. Over 80% of patients with LLD respond positively to manual osteopathic care.

Certificado en Osteopatía (CO)

La Universidad Nacional de Ciencias Médicas ofrece un programa de certificado de postgrado en osteopatía para profesionales de la salud. A través de videos en línea ( on-line)  los estudiantes  aprenden la evaluación osteopatica , el diagnóstico y el tratamiento de la columna vertebral (lumbar , torácica , costillas, cuello uterino , sacroilíaca ), así como todas las otras articulaciones , incluyendo la articulación temporomandibular , hombro, codo , muñeca, mano , cadera , rodilla, tobillo y pie.

Los estudiantes al graduarse utilizaran la denominación " CO - Certificado en Osteopatía”.

Formato del programa: Video clases en línea (on-line)

Duración del programa: Dos meses

Examen: Si. Los estudiantes deben aprobar un examen en línea antes de ser otorgados con el certificado.

Matrícula: 800 euros

Tasa de solicitud: 175 euros

Clase práctica: Ofrecemos una semana opcional  (de lunes a viernes de 10am a 4 pm) de técnicas prácticas en Madrid (España), Toronto (Canadá) y un número de otros lugares dos veces por año. La asistencia no es obligatoria. El espacio es limitado y las reservas deben hacerse con anticipación.

Lenguaje de enseñanza: Este programa se ofrece en idioma español.

Requisitos: Este programa está disponible sólo para los estudiantes con previa educación en salud, tales como fisioterapeutas, médicos, quiroprácticos , masajistas, naturópatas , terapeutas deportivos, acupunturistas , etc .

Disponibilidad: Este programa está disponible en línea dos veces al año en todos los países excepto Canadá. El programa de CO no está disponible para los estudiantes que residen en Canadá.

Fecha de inicio: El programa se ofrece dos veces al año, el 28 de Febrero y el 28 de Septiembre de cada año.

Tras el pago de la matrícula los estudiantes reciben una contraseña y el ID de usuario que les da acceso a las conferencias de vídeo en línea . Aquellos estudiantes que deseen tener una copia de todos los videos pueden comprar un disco duro a un precio de 300 euros (incluye gasto de envío)

TRACTION SEMINAR: SATURDAY APRIL 12, 2014

Seminar: Certified Decompression Traction Therapy Program

Instructor: manual osteopath & certified decompression traction therapist; Professor Amir Kazemi, DOMP, DCMOEB, CDTT

Time: 2 hours of lectures & demonstration (start at 10AM to noon)

Format: campus based at the National Academy of Osteopathy campus at York University Heights campus located at 121 Limestone Crescent in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as well as online worldwide. The in-campus Attendees get the opportunity to practice with the Chattanooga DTS Decompression traction computerized table. Online seminar will become available a week later on April 19, 2014

Fee: 100 EURO or $150 Canadian (a receipt is issued for you to use as a business expenses for tax deduction purposes, where applicable)

CEU: This seminar is eligible to be used to fulfill continuing education unit (CEU) requirements of COMPO, IOA, OCORS and other associations.

Eligibility: open to all health professionals; including osteopaths, massage therapists, physical therapists, kinesiologists, athletic trainers, homeopaths, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, athletic therapists, manual therapists, physicians, chiropractors and naturopaths

Topics Covered: Indication and contraindications of traction therapy is covered as well as a brief explanation of the science of traction therapy. Attendees learn all that is required in order to be able to offer traction therapy services in their clinics.

Designation: Upon successful completion of the program a certificate of completion is awarded by the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMSS) which will be emailed to attendees (printed certificates can be provided and mailed at a cost upon request). You may use the title of “Certified Decompression Traction Therapist” to indicate your expertise in traction therapy. And you may use “CDTT” designation after your name.

Pre-Requirement: This course is open only to health professionals such as manual osteopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, athletic therapists, & physical therapists. This seminar is not suitable for those without prior health education.

Course Outcome: Upon completion of this seminar attendees learn how to use the decompression traction machine and how to set up the patient on it. This course is highly recommended as traction therapy is a great tool health professional can use in helping patients with low back pain, specially of the type of pain that originates from disc conditions.

National University of Medical Sciences offers 33 health related online degrees including a Master of Science in Athletic Therapy that is accredited by the International Board of Certified Athletic Therapists (www.athletictherapyboard.org). 

The MSc (AT) takes 2 semesters (1 year) to complete. Tuition is 3,000 EURO. Pre-requisite is having a bachelor’s degree. Those who do not have a bachelor’s degree can take the dual degree BSc (O)/MSc(AT) and graduate as a manual osteopath/athletic therapist.

The program is offered online on-demand, designed for the working professional. Upon graduation you are eligible to work as an athletic therapist in all Canadian provinces.
