TUITION Increase
The tuition of all National University of Medical Sciences
will increase by 10% for the February 2015 classes. The tuition for the September
2014 classes remains the same as our current tuition.

SEMINAR: Improve ATHLETIC Performance
Learn how to increase flexibility, enhance motion, increase
power and prevent injury through sports osteopathic techniques.
This seminar is ideal for personal trainers, athletes,
coaches & health professionals who wish to use manual osteopathic
techniques to improve athletic performance. Prior health education is not
required to learn these techniques.
Seminar is presented on Saturday, March 15th,
2014 at 10AM to noon at the York University Height campus of NAO located at 121
Limestone Crescent in Toronto (Ontario, Canada). Those unable to attend the
campus based seminar may enrol in the online on-demand video seminar.
Seminar fee is 50 EURO. A receipt is issued for tax
purposes. And a certificate is issued
that could be used towards fulfilling (if any) of your CEU requirements. This seminar
is equal to 2 continuing education units for massage therapists,
physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors and manual osteopaths.
This is a practical seminar and the techniques are
demonstrated by manual osteopath Dr Shahin Pourgol, BSc (O), DC, DOMP (www.pourgol.com) who is
the president and one of the professors of the National University of Medical
Sciences & the National Academy of Osteopathy. Dr Pourgol is a Bronze medal
holder in Tae Kown Do (1985) as well as being one of the past team doctors of
FC Porto.
Seminar is open to everyone, with or without prior health
education. It is especially suitable for athletes, coaches, personal trainers,
manual osteopaths, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, athletic
therapists & massage therapists.

NUMSS Student Joins St Michael Hospital's Missionary Work
Osteopathic manual practitioner & NAO graduate of the DOMP program and the current NUMSS student of DO program, Susan has joined the medical team of St Michael hospital's missionary work in the Philippines. Susan is the only manual osteopath there. We are proud to have such graduates.

Master of Science in Chiropractic Sports Science & Rehabilitation
The Board of Governors has approved
addition of a new degree program (available only to chiropractors) to the National University of Medical
Science academic curriculum.
The Master of Science in Chiropractic Sports Science & Rehabilitation - MSc (CSSR) program of NUMSS is
available only to chiropractors. It is offered through an online
on-demand (distance education) format. It takes one year to
complete the MSc (CSSR) program and the tuition is 3,000 EURO. The next class
starts September 28, 2014.
All chiropractors are eligible to enrol. Lectures are
in English.
This is the
first time a university is offering a Master of Science in Chiropractic Sports Science & Rehabilitation. Topics include lectures in diagnostic imaging, diagnosis, fitness assessment, chiropractic rehabilitation, sports nutrition and chiropractic management of sports injuries. .

Bachelor of Science in Massage Therapy Offered by National University of Medical Sciences
We are excited to announce that the Board of Governors approved addition of a new degree program to the National University of Medical Science (NUMSS) curriculum.
The new Bachelor of Science in Massage Therapy - BSc (MT) program of NUMSS is available only to massage therapists. It is offered through an online on-demand (distance education) format (optional practical technique classes are available in certain locations). It takes one year to complete the BSc (MT) and the tuition is 3,000 EURO. The next class starts September 28, 2014.
All massage therapists are eligible to enrol from anywhere in the world including USA, Canada, Australia, & the United Kingdom. Lectures are in English only.
This is the first time that a university is offering a bachelor of science in massage therapy. This program introduces the massage therapists to the art and science of medical diagnosis, orthopaedics and neurological testing, radiology and diagnostic imaging, sports medicine, clinical nutrition, physiotherapy modalities and advanced manual therapy techniques.

Is membership in CATA (Canadian Athletic Therapy Association) mandatory to practice as an Athletic Therapist in Canada?
No. Athletic Therapy is not a regulated health profession in Canada or anywhere else in the world (Athletic Training, a separate but similar profession in USA is regulated there). As such membership in CATA is not required to practice as an AT in Canada.
Those who wish to become a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT) can either join CATA or IBCAT.
International Board of Certified Athletic Therapists is a non-Canadian organization that certifies athletic therapists that pass its board exams.
CATA has obtained the trademark of "CAT" in Canada only. As IBCAT is a non Canadian organization it is permitted to issue the "CAT" designation, as Canadian trademarked designations do not apply to it.

COMPO Releases List of Accredited Schools of Osteopathy
The list of accredited schools of osteopathy has been published by the College of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners of Ontario. COMPO only accredits those osteopathic schools that offer World Health Organization (WHO) compliant osteopathic education. NUMSS Doctor of Osteopathy & the Bachelor of Science in Osteopathy programs are WHO compliant.
